Boral employee awarded prestigious Quarry Manager of the Year honour
Boral’s Lobethal Quarry Manager Frank Pedretti was proudly named Quarry Manager of the Year (less than 10 full-time employees category) by the sector’s premier industry group, Institute of Quarrying Australia at its national conference in Geelong last week.
Boral nominated Frank in recognition of his numerous achievements over the past 35 years for the company, including being instrumental in shaping a stellar safety culture at Lobethal Quarry. The South Australian hard rock quarry is now preparing to celebrate a monumental milestone – five years Lost Time Injury Free.
Kevin Whelan, General Manager of Boral South Australia said he attributed the outstanding result largely to the highly engaged workforce at Lobethal whose passion for the business and commitment to one another had thrived under Frank’s leadership.
“Frank’s passion for continuous improvement around site safety is infectious, which is crucial when you have a multidisciplinary team working in a mining environment with heavy equipment,” Mr Whelan said.
In addition to a dedication to workplace safety at Lobethal, Frank has also focused on making a positive contribution to the environment through a range of initiatives such as water management projects preventing soil erosion and improving water quality on-site.
Frank’s exceptional leadership skills and morale-building ability are now being put to good use across Boral’s South Australia quarry footprint in a key role assisting the business stay ahead of the curve while ensuring safety remains its number one priority.
